With hurricane Francine barreling through the trail area over the next few days, we’ve taken the advice of our weather gurus here and are going to reschedule this event for later. Stay tuned for updates.

Talladega Forest Trail Day 2024 – Sept 14-15th

Get ready for an Alabama adventure with the Atlanta Raptors! Join us on September 14th for a thrilling day of off-road excitement in the beautiful Talladega and Cheaha Forests. Whether you’re a seasoned trailblazer or new to the off-road scene, this event is all about camaraderie, exploration, and fun—safely conquering the trails together.

What to Expect:

• Scenic Forest Roads: Kick off the day with a brisk ride along forestry roads, featuring some light rock crawling sections that will challenge your skills and offer stunning views. Our route leads to a breathtaking overlook where we’ll stop for a well-deserved lunch break.
• Trail Continuation: After lunch, the adventure continues! We’ll navigate additional forest roads as we make our way to Cheaha State Park. For those choosing to stay overnight, this is your chance to set up camp and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature.
• Flexible Participation: Not staying overnight? No worries! You can choose to explore more trails or head home whenever you’re ready. Cheaha State Park is conveniently located just 20 minutes from I-20, making your journey back easy and accessible.
• Safety First: We take safety seriously and recommend all participants equip their Raptors with chase lights due to potential dusty conditions. Visibility is crucial for a safe and enjoyable ride. Check out the temporary and affordable chase light options below if you need suggestions.

Family-Friendly Fun:
This is a family-friendly event, but please consider the limitations of your passengers, as the trails can be bumpy and the ride rougher for those in the passenger seat. We want everyone to have a great time, so plan accordingly!

Event Schedule:

• Optional 10:00 AM EST Atlanta Departure to Oxford
  • Location: 1000 Thornton Rd, Lithia Springs, GA 30122 (Home Depot off I-20)
• 10:00 AM CST – Rally Point in Oxford, Alabama
  • Location: 130 Elm St, Oxford, AL 36203
  • Agenda: Trail briefing and member introductions.
• 10:30 AM CST – Trail Departure
• 1:30 PM CST – Lunch at Lookout over Talladega National Park
  • Details: Enjoy a scenic lunch with panoramic views. Don’t forget to bring your lunch, beverages, and snacks!
• 2:00 PM CST – Roll Out
• 3:00 PM CST – Arrival at Cheaha State Park
  • Location: 19644 AL-281, Delta, AL 36258
• 3:30 PM CST – Camp Setup and Exploration
  • For those staying overnight, Please bring your planned dinner, there are also restaurant options near i-2o though they are limited.
  • The State park offers a museum, walking trails, and a lake. State Park Website Link can provide all details, please make sure to make a camp site reservation

Recommended Gear:

• Chase Lights: Due to the potential for dusty conditions, chase lights are highly recommended. For a temporary and affordable option, consider the following:
